Brentford Match Preview

After being dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Liverpool in midweek, West Ham United play their third consecutive Premier League match against a West London team, as they travel to The Gtech Community Stadium to face Brentford this afternoon.

The Hammers recorded their first win over the Bees back in February under the stewardship of David Moyes. However, the Scotsman never managed to steer his side to a victory in the top-flight here meaning Julen Lopetegui will be looking to change the fortunes of his team today.

If they do achieve the desired outcome this time around, then the Irons will have inflicted a first home defeat on their opponents, as the Bees have already beaten both Crystal Palace and newly-promoted Southampton in front of their own fans.

Thomas Frank’s men will be the fresher of the two sides going into the game as they played their Carabao Cup third-round tie against Sky Bet League One outfit Leyton Orient the previous week, meaning they have had more time to prepare for this encounter.

Edson Álvarez will serve a one-match ban after being sent-off at Anfield four days ago. On the other hand though, striker Niclas Füllkrug may make a return to the matchday squad following his calf injury.

The match is a 3pm kick-off and the referee is Simon Hooper.
