Leeds United Match Preview

West Ham United have already come unstuck against one of the newly-promoted teams this season, as they lost 3-0 away at Sunderland on the opening day of the campaign under the stewardship of former Head-Coach Graham Potter. They will be hoping to avoid a repeat of the outcome in August when Nuno Espírito Santo takes his side to Elland Road to face last season’s Sky Bet Championship title winners Leeds United tonight.

Here’s hoping that the Hammers can make up for their performance in the 2-0 home defeat to Brentford five days ago and the former Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest Head-Coach is able to achieve his first win since taking charge in East London back on September 27.

As the Irons are involved in the first Premier League game of the weekend, they can lift themselves out of the relegation zone, providing they get a positive result here. They have a good record in West Yorkshire too, as they have not lost here for over twenty years.

Daniel Farke’s side will be the fresher of the two teams as they have had longer to prepare for this game, following their defeat away at fellow promoted club Burnley six days ago, whereas the Hammers have only had three days after the home reverse in their latest London derby.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Soungoutou Magassa and El Hadji Malick Diouf are all likely to make a return to the starting line-up, while Tomáš Souček and Crysencio Summerville are set to retain their places from the defeat to the Bees with Summerville featuring against his former club and Souček in line to make his 200th appearance if the Czech midfielder does start.

Konstantinos Mavropanos sustained an injury towards the end of the match against Keith Andrews’ side and will miss tonight’s encounter. This may mean that Jean-Clair Todibo will fill in for the former Arsenal defender with Oliver Scarles and Andy Irving likely to drop back to the bench.

Callum Marshall made another appearance from the substitutes bench on Monday and it is yet unknown if Espírito Santo will hand the Northern Irish youngster his first start here.

For the second time this week, the Irons will kick-off at 8pm and as per Monday night’s contest, their fixture will again be screened by Sky Sports. However, on this occasion, coverage begins at 7:30pm. The referee is Stuart Attwell.
