Brentford Match Preview
Chelsea played four consecutive London derbies to start the 2025/26 season and West Ham United are in a similar situation, as they host their fourth home match against London opposition when they face Brentford tonight.
It’s been a while in coming but Nuno Espírito Santo will finally face his first home game since taking over from Graham Potter back on 27 September and his first task is to try and rectify a record that has seen the Hammers go without a win in Stratford since February.
Although the appointment of Keith Andrews as Thomas Frank’s replacement in West London raised many eyebrows, due to this being his first managerial post, he has done better than many outsiders would have expected with two wins and one draw from seven games.
Having not been in action since the defeat away at Arsenal back on October 4, the Irons are now having to play twice in the space of just five days and three points from this crucial encounter will stand them in good stead for another winnable encounter as they are on the road against newly-promoted Leeds United on Friday night.
The Irons really need a boost at home but will be aware that their opponents are yet to win away from The Gtech Community Stadium, so it will be interesting to see what happens here.
Neither side really has an advantage in terms of preparation time for this game, although the home team have had one extra day, due to the Bees being in action against Manchester City on the Sunday before the international break.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka is hoping to retain his place having been restored to the starting line-up for the game against the Gunners at The Emirates Stadium sixteen days ago, while Tomáš Souček has served his three-match suspension, despite being involved in the Development Squad’s 3-1 EFL Trophy defeat at Reading back on 30 September.
Niclas Füllkrug picked up a thigh injury in training this week after being involved on international duty with Germany and there are suggestions that youngster Callum Marshall could be in line for his first Premier League start here after impressing off the bench against Mikel Arteta’s men last time out.
The Head-Coach will have his newly assembled backroom staff on the touchline here having placed them in their new roles back on 11 October.
The match is an 8pm kick-off with live coverage being screened by Sky Sports from 6:30pm. The referee is Andrew Madley.
