Tottenham Hotspur Match Preview

West Ham United have only picked up three draws throughout March and April and after losing late on against Brighton and Hove Albion eight days ago, they will surely want to put things right at home to Tottenham Hotspur in their last London derby of the season this afternoon.

With four games remaining, the Hammers will want to try and improve on their current league position of seventeenth and what a way to start with victory over Ange Postecoglou’s men in front of their own fans.

The Australian brings his side to Stratford in sixteenth place in the Premier League table just one point ahead of their opponents but the Irons will be hoping that their visitors will be thinking ahead to much bigger matters in the coming week, as they currently hold a two-goal advantage in their UEFA Europa League semi-final against Norwegian outfit FK Bodø/Glimt.

There has been continued speculation in recent months about Postecoglou’s future at the North London club but he remains at the helm at present and whilst he will be looking for his side to do the double over the East Londoners. Graham Potter will hope to do better than Julen Lopetegui did after the Spaniard was in charge for the reverse fixture back in October and surrendered a one-goal advantage to lose 4-1.

Potter may look to make further changes for this fixture, as Niclas Füllkrug could be restored to the starting line-up after he once again made an impact from the bench. When he spoke to the assembled media on Friday, the Head-Coach didn’t have an update on the fitness of Edson Álvarez so it will be interesting to see whether the Mexican midfielder is in contention. Goalkeeper Alphonse Areola and defender Emerson Palmieri are likely to keep their places.

Evan Ferguson is available to be involved again after missing out at The American Express Stadium.

The match is a 2pm kick-off and the referee is Michael Oliver.
