Latest Summer Transfer News

The summer transfer window is now fully open for business and unlike this time last year where very little happened in East London until well into July, this time around it is noticeable that more players have left West Ham United than have been brought into the club.

News had emerged back on June 5 that young goalkeepers Joseph Anang and Jacob Knightbridge would be among a number of players to be released. Then, seventeen days later, the club agreed a deal to let fellow young stopper Nathan Trott secure a permanent move to Denmark and sign for FC Copenhagen. Trott had previously spent several loan spells away from East London including in Denmark at Vejle BK.

The Hammers’ hierarchy, together with new Head-Coach Julen Lopetegui, had decided to bring in goalkeeping cover for both Alphonse Areola and Łukasz Fabiański and identified Sheffield United’s Wes Foderingham as the man that will fulfil the role.

Although the deal for the former Swindon Town and Glasgow Rangers player was completed last Wednesday, news of this potential move was brought about way back on May 29.

Foderingham has signed a two-year deal and it is thought that he will mainly be used in the club’s Carabao Cup campaign which has been scheduled to get underway in the week beginning 26 August.

Having said that, he may play some part in the club’s betway cup home fixture against La Liga outfit RC Celta Vigo sixteen days before.

Last month, defender Aaron Cresswell signed a contract extension and it was confirmed on Friday that goalkeeper Krisztián Hegyi had done likewise whilst also confirming a season-long loan to Scottish club Motherwell.

Saïd Benrahma finalised a loan move to French club Olympique Lyonnais on February 1 with a view to making the switch a permanent one. Well, the winger has done just that and follows former teammate Thilo Kehrer in making the transfer to France.

Both defender Ben Johnson and youngster Divin Mubama had been offered new deals by the club but after considering their options, the pair have decided not to extend their stays in Stratford after their deals expired at midnight.

There is still plenty of time for further details to be done before the window closes at the end of August. As soon as any news is available, this site will provide its readers with the latest.
