2024/25 Fixtures Revealed
West Ham United fans are expecting an alternative style of football under new Head-Coach Julen Lopetegui and his new way of playing will be on show to the ever-loyal fan base when the Hammers welcome Aston Villa to Stratford for the opening fixture of the 2024/25 season on Saturday 17 August. The match will kick-off at 5:30pm as it has already been selected for live television coverage and will be screened by Sky Sports.
Lopetegui’s new side don’t have a top-flight fixture outside of the capital until 2 November when they make the trip to Nottingham Forest with their first game on the road being at Crystal Palace on August 24.
For the last four seasons, the East Londoners have not participated in the Carabao Cup until the third-round stage, due to their European excursions. However, this campaign, they will enter the competition at the second-round stage which will take place in the midweek following the clash with the Eagles. West Ham then end the first month with the visit of Manchester City.
September is made up exclusively of London derbies for the Irons with a trip to Craven Cottage up first, before they play host to Chelsea, who are again under new management as Enzo Maresca has now replaced Mauricio Pochettino. The East Londoners finally got their first Premier League win over Brentford in February. Can they notch up another when they go to The Gtech Community Stadium for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday 28?
Ipswich Town are the first of the newly-promoted clubs to take on the Hammers and they arrive in the East End on October 5.
There is a fortnight’s break for international fixtures after Lopetegui’s men have faced the Tractor Boys before domestic action returns and the Claret and Blue Army face the fixture they have all been waiting for, as they travel to The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 19 October. Another standout fixture ends that month as Manchester United are the visitors to Stratford.
After a trip to The City Ground starts off November, the Irons then face a home encounter with Everton. That is before another international break disrupts action in the top-flight after which, the East Londoners take on both Newcastle United and Arsenal.
The Hammers travel to newly-promoted Leicester City on Tuesday 3 December to begin a busy month. Steve Cooper was confirmed as Enzo Maresca’s replacement earlier this week. Kick-off at the King Power Stadium is scheduled for 7:45pm.
Lopetegui then faces a first reunion with the club he left last August just four days later, when his team host Wolverhampton Wanderers in the first of back-to-back home games, with AFC Bournemouth providing the opposition a week later.
Fabian Hürzeler is just one of several new faces to have joined the Premier League this summer and he brings his Brighton and Hove Albion side to the East End on December 21 to start the busy festive fixture programme. Then, four days later, West Ham make the short journey to Hampshire to face last season’s Sky Bet Championship play-off winners Southampton. 2024 ends on Sunday 29 December with Lopetegui taking on another new face, when Liverpool provide the opposition. The Reds are now under the stewardship of Arne Slot.
The Hammers have so far only won four games in 2024 to date but hopefully, they will enjoy better luck at the start of 2025. However, they couldn’t have dreamt for a worse team to start the New Year against, as they face the long trip North and take on Josep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
There is then a break for the Premier League sides to play their first FA Cup game of the season with the competition taking place before 11 January. No domestic fixtures that weekend means another round of Premier League action takes place with the Hammers facing a London derby with Fulham, before the home fans return to Stratford in another four days to watch Crystal Palace take on their side. After that, it’s then the reverse of the opening-day fixtures with the Hammers facing Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Leicester City break a run of London derbies at the end of February when they visit Stratford for another midweek clash on 25th, as per the reverse fixture, action gets underway at 7:45pm.
Due to an international break the end of March, Newcastle United and Everton are the only teams that will face the Irons.
West Ham’s new Head-Coach will return to Molineux to kick off the month of April for the final midweek encounter of the season when they take on Gary O’Neill’s Wolverhampton Wanderers. The highlight of this month is a trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool.
The FA Cup final takes place on Saturday 17 May, which means that all Premier League matches scheduled for that weekend will take place a day later. Nuno Espírito Santo’s Nottingham Forest are the last visitors to Stratford, before a trip to Portman Road to face newly-promoted Ipswich Town brings an end to the 2024/25 campaign.
A full fixture list is as always available via the club’s official website.
Before August arrives though, all twenty teams are shaping their squads for the new season. Players have moved in and out of Stratford already but more are due to be confirmed before the summer transfer window closes at the end of August. If any deals are done you can find out latest here.
