Another Two January Exits At West Ham
It’s that time of year again and the January transfer window is open. Although there have been no deals done on the incoming front as yet, a further two players have left Stratford. It was confirmed today that Gideon Kodua has linked up with teammate Freddie Potts and joined Sky Bet League One outfit Wycombe Wanderers on loan until the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
Coincidently, Steve Potts’ Development Squad lost 2-1 to the Chairboys just three days ago and Kodua netted the goal for the Hammers and after the match Wycombe boss Matt Bloomfield moved quickly to get a deal done.
The Buckinghamshire club are getting a player who has already made twelve appearances this season, notching up seven goals.
Following Kodua’s departure from East London, the club also confirmed that after several loan spells at EFL clubs in recent seasons and after consecutive appearances in the last two first-team matchday squads, Connor Coventry was named on a West Ham team sheet for the last time in Sunday’s Emirates FA Cup third-round tie at home to Bristol City, as he has now made a permanent switch to Sky Bet League One outfit Charlton Athletic.
On the day a loan deal was agreed that saw Coventry join Sky Bet Championship outfit Rotherham United, he also put pen to paper on a one-year contract extension with the Irons.
Even though he made seven appearances for the first team, manager David Moyes felt opportunities would be severely limited for the youngster going forward and it was decided that it would be best for him to leave his boyhood club and seek further senior football elsewhere. He has now linked up with former Portsmouth, Blackpool, Blackburn Rovers, Oxford United and Lincoln City boss Michael Appleton at The Valley.
The midfielder will hope to make his debut against one of his former clubs on Saturday, as the Addicks play host to Peterborough United.
If more deals are confirmed either in or out of East London this month then as always, this site will have the very latest news as soon as it is confirmed.
