Manchester City Match Preview

Having not played in Stratford since 26 September, West Ham United are back on home turf for today’s early kick-off, where they will be hoping to continue their recent run of form. Having said that, they have a tough nut to crack, as they come up against Josep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

The visitors may have won their last league game 1-0 against Arsenal a week ago but the home side are definitely high on confidence after claiming that impressive point at Tottenham Hotspur last Sunday having come from three goals behind.

West Ham will hope to pick up their first home win against this weekend’s opponents since 2014 when a certain Manuel Pellegrini was at the helm in Manchester.

The Citizens were in UEFA Champions League action on Wednesday when they achieved a 3-1 victory over FC Porto and as they have to travel to France and face Marseille for another game in that very same competition this coming Tuesday, the Hammers will harbour hopes of adding one of the big clubs to a list of already notable scalps this season.

David Moyes may consider making changes for this game. Manuel Lanzini will surely be pushing for a start after coming off the bench to score the spectacular equaliser that earnt the Irons an unlikely share of the points at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last time out.

Craig Dawson is in contention to make his debut, while Robert Snodgrass could also start after he too made a significant impact when coming off the bench against José Mourinho’s side.

Saïd Benrahma may play some part but will begin the encounter from the bench, while Issa Diop may have to fight to regain his place in central defence, given that Fabián Balbuena started that incredible comeback. Sébastien Haller is also set to be in the match day squad after missing last weekend’s derby with a minor injury.

The match is a 12:30pm kick-off with live coverage being screened by BT Sport from 11:30am. The referee is Anthony Taylor.
