Manchester United Match Preview

The last time that West Ham United and Manchester United met, the Hammers had the chance to climb out of the relegation zone but unfortunately, despite getting a point at Old Trafford, they were unable to do so and have remained there ever since.

The win over newly-promoted Burnley on Saturday afternoon closed the gap to Nottingham Forest to just three points, as the Tricky Trees were defeated 3-1 by Leeds United at Elland Road on Friday night so a win over the Red Devils tonight will lift Nuno Espírito Santo’s side out of trouble for the time being.

The problem they might have here is that since the appointment of Michael Carrick was confirmed as Ruben Amorim’s replacement back on 13 January, they have been on a winning run of four games which has included “statement victories” over both Manchester City and Arsenal. Let’s hope the home side’s momentum continues and they can build on the three points collected against the Clarets just three days ago.

Neither team has an advantage in terms of preparation for this game, as both sides were in action on Saturday and they are both full of confidence, as Carrick saw his side ease to a 2-0 home victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

The Irons’ Head-Coach surprised the fan base and the assembled media when he named goalkeeper Mads Hermansen in the starting line-up for the game at Turf Moor but with the Dane keeping a first clean sheet since August, it will be interesting to see whether he keeps his place, while defender Axel Disasi and left winger Adama Traoré are both in contention to make their home debuts.

The match gets underway at the unusual time of 8:15pm and live coverage being screened by TNT Sports from 7pm. The referee is Simon Hooper.
