Goalkeeper Search At An End

A week on from signing Callum Wilson, West Ham United have seen another new recruit come through the arrivals door in Stratford, as they have signed goalkeeper Mads Hermansen on a five-year contract from Leicester City for a fee of £18m.

West Ham’s initial interest in the Dane was first reported on 21 July after it was thought that the Hammers would make an approach as they were searching for cover for both Alphonse Areola and Wes Foderingham, following the departure of Łukasz Fabiański in the summer.

Although the two club’s appeared to be far apart in their valuation of the stopper, a compromised fee was only agreed on Thursday and Hermansen headed to the capital for a medical before completing the move.

Head-Coach Graham Potter would have seen his latest signing in action, as he was part of the team for Amazon Prime Video’s coverage of a 3-1 defeat for the Irons at the King Power Stadium back on December 3, where he made a number of stunning saves to keep his team in the contest.

The player is also well known to recently appointed Irons’ Goalkeeping Coach Casper Ankergren, as the pair also worked together in Denmark.

Hermansen will be given the number 1 shirt and will hope to make his debut for the club when they open their 2025/26 campaign against newly-promoted Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.

Who knows what will happen on the transfer front this week before Potter’s men arrive at The Stadium of Light? As always, if anything materialises, then this site will keep its readers up to date.
