Hammers Clinch Cummings Deal

After confirming the signing of defender Jean-Clair Todibo last month, West Ham United have today announced that they have now officially signed 19-year-old Daniel Cummings from Scottish Premiership side Celtic.

Since replacing former Head-Coach Julen Lopetegui in January, it was thought that Graham Potter would make the forward his first signing when the previous transfer window closed back on February 3 but the hierarchy in Glasgow fended off the initial interest.

It transpired that days later, the former Swansea City and Chelsea Head-Coach went for Hibernian’s Josh Landers instead.

However, Potter monitored Cummings progress and the youngster signed a pre-contract agreement once his current terms with the Scottish Champions had expired.

Like fellow Scotsman Landers, West Ham’s latest recruit will start his stint with the club playing as part of Mark Robson’s Development Squad in the hope that he will make the step up to the first-team in the future.

When Landers joined the club earlier this year, he came with a prolific goalscoring record and Cummings comes with an equally impressive reputation. He even scored against his new team playing for Celtic in the Premier League International Cup back in September 2023.

It seems extremely unlikely that he will play for the Irons at a top-flight stadium any time soon but he tasted this experience before, as he played in Celtic’s UEFA Champions League group phase encounter against Aston Villa back in January.

With two months still to go before the summer window closes, Potter is likely to improve his squad further ahead of the new Premier League season. As soon as any movement is made both in and out of Stratford, then this site will provide the details.
