Another Defensive Target Secured
West Ham United have signed former Southampton defender Kyle Walker-Peters on a three-year contract after his deal at St Mary’s came to an end last season.
The versatile defender could have left the Saints last summer, as he originally was a target for the Irons when they were under the stewardship of former Head-Coach Julen Lopetegui but the deal never materialised.
Earlier this week, the player had been set for a medical at Beşiktaş before completing a move to Turkey however, current Hammers’ Head-Coach Graham Potter obviously kept an eye out for any solution on the future of the former Tottenham Hotspur youngster and moved quickly to register his club’s interest a day later.
The defender will be reunited with former teammate James Ward-Prowse in East London and becomes the fourth permanent signing of Potter’s reign and the second in just five days, following the arrival of El Hadji Malick Diouf.
Walker-Peters is set to fly out with the team on Wednesday, as they embark on the journey to the United States for the Premier League Summer Series to face AFC Bournemouth, Everton and Manchester United and the player will be hoping to be involved when they play the Red Devils next Sunday morning.
There is likely to be further movement both in and out of Stratford before the summer transfer window closes at the start of September. If and when deals are confirmed, this site will provide the details.
