Rodríguez Seals Return To Spain
Following the recent departures of Luis Guilherme, Niclas Füllkrug and Andrew Irving it was confirmed earlier today that Argentine defensive midfielder Guido Rodríguez has become the fourth player to leave West Ham United in the current transfer window as he has returned to Spain to sign a permanent deal with La Liga outfit Valencia CF.
Rodríguez was brought to the club in the summer of 2024 from Real Betis as he was a key target identified by the then Head-Coach Julen Lopetegui that could strengthen the squad.
However, since Lopetegui was relieved of his duties in East London, the defensive midfielder has seen very little gametime. He was only involved sparingly during Graham Potter’s reign and even less so under Nuno Espírito Santo’s stewardship, as he only featured twice in the matchday squads under the Portuguese.
Since the current window opened on New Year’s Day, Rodríguez was often mentioned in many pre-match news conferences as being one that looked likely to move out of Stratford and after Saturday’s encounter against newly-promoted Sunderland, the Spanish club had ramped up their pursuit of the former Real Betis man and contract talks and a medical then took place.
There is likely to be more movements both in and out of West Ham before Monday’s deadline. As always, as soon as anything is confirmed, then this site will provide all the very latest details.
