Macaulay Departs

Just twelve days after Graham Potter was relieved of his duties as Head-Coach at West Ham United, it has been confirmed that Kyle Macaulay is no longer in post and has departed Stratford.

Macaulay was always an ally of Potter’s and returned to work under the former Swansea City and Chelsea boss when former Technical Director Tim Steidten had left his position.

To be fair, it’s a bit of a puzzle as to why this move wasn’t made when Potter and his coaching staff left the club last month. It seems that for whatever reason, new Head-Coach Nuno Espírito Santo clearly wants to go in a different direction and, like Potter, would prefer to bring in someone that he is comfortable working alongside in order to acquire the type of players that he thinks will get West Ham going in an upward trajectory once again.

The Portuguese is momentarily working alongside the Development Squad staff and has twelve more days before his side face Brentford in order to put his backroom staff in place which will now include a new Head of Recruitment. At that point, the ever-loyal fan base will see if the potential new recruits will make a difference, given that the last two men to take the hotseat in East London only had one transfer window between them.

As I mentioned before, as soon as any news regarding new appointments becomes available, then this site will provide details.
