Barnsley Cement Permanent Kelly Transfer

In the last few days, West Ham United have seen a number of their Development Squad leave the club as they go in search of first-team football. The latest to make this move is 20-year-old midfielder Patrick Kelly, who has joined Sky Bet League One outfit Barnsley on a permanent basis.

The player heads back to Yorkshire after helping Grant McCann’s Doncaster Rovers side achieve automatic promotion from Sky Bet League Two by winning the title last campaign and follows teammates Kamarai Swyer, Gideon Kodua and Michael Forbes in making moves to the third tier this summer.

Kelly arrived in East London from NIFL Premiership club Coleraine in the summer of 2022 when all in Stratford were enjoying a sustained period of success under David Moyes and although senior action was limited for the player, he did feature forty six times in total at both U21, as well as U18 levels. He only scored three goals but provided eight assists in that time.

There currently seems to be plenty of movement in and out of Stratford and with just over a month still to make deals happen, more are likely to be done before September’s deadline. As soon as deals are confirmed, this site will provide details.
