Crystal Palace Match Preview

After starting their season with a 2-1 home defeat to Aston Villa a week ago, West Ham United will hope to get up and running this afternoon when they travel to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace.

These two sides met recently when they took part in the Sunshine State Tour of Florida just last month and the Hammers will want revenge on Oliver Glasner’s side after they claimed a 3-1 victory which saw them win the tournament.

West Ham are due a win against the Eagles, as they have failed to beat them in their last five meetings, dating back to a 3-2 win here on New Year’s Day 2022.

Julen Lopetegui’s side only won six games on their travels last season and they will certainly be looking for an improvement on that particular statistic this campaign.

Both of these teams need to bounce back after defeats last weekend however, one factor that is in favour of the East Londoners here is that they have had one extra day’s preparation ahead of this encounter, as Glasner’s men had to travel to Brentford last Sunday.

If the Irons are able to pick up maximum points here, it will give them momentum ahead of their Carabao Cup opener at home to fellow Premier League outfit AFC Bournemouth on Wednesday night.

Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Füllkrug, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jean-Clair Todibo were all in the matchday squad against the Villains and they will be hoping to have done enough in training this week to earn starts. Edson Álvarez will undergo a late fitness test.

The match is a 3pm kick-off and the referee is Robert Jones.
