Forbes Heads For Loan Spell

West Ham United’s 20-year-old defender Michael Forbes has been allowed to head out of Stratford and join Sky Bet League One outfit Bristol Rovers on a season-long loan by new Head-Coach Julen Lopetegui after the move was sanctioned earlier today.

A number of players have left East London already this summer, due to their contracts having expired but Forbes is currently only the second player to move on a temporary basis, following the departure of goalkeeper KrisztiƔn Hegyi to Scottish club Motherwell a week ago.

Senior figures at West Ham feel that now is the time for the Northern Irishman to step up to the next level and the move to the West Country will allow him to gain valuable first-team experience after captaining both the U18 and U21 sides during his first three years with the Hammers.

Forbes will hope to make his debut for his new club when they play host to Northampton Town on 10 August.

It looks likely to be a busy few days as far as incoming transfers are concerned for West Ham and as always, if and when any further deals are confirmed, this site will be first with the news.
