Chelsea Match Preview
West Ham United’s first London derby of the season was at home to Chelsea back on 20 August and their last of the 2023/24 campaign is against the same opponents at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.
The Hammers can do their second double of the season here, following a 3-1 win in that fixture and they will be mindful of the fact that the Blues were only in action three days ago against Tottenham Hotspur in front of their own fans.
One downside for the Irons supporters is that David Moyes is yet to win a single game at Stamford Bridge. Having said that though, he did manage a first win at The Emirates Stadium earlier this season so here’s hoping that he is able to do the same. If he can achieve the feat today, then the East Londoners will move back above their opponents in the Premier League table.
The visitors will want to build on last weekend’s 2-2 draw at home to Liverpool while also looking to make amends for their last encounter on the road; that 5-2 trouncing at Crystal Palace.
Both Konstantinos Mavropanos and Nayef Aguerd will face late fitness tests to see if they can take part in the trip to West London. If the pair have to miss out again however, then Angelo Ogbonna will be in the starting line-up for a third consecutive game.
Defenders Kurt Zouma and Emerson Palmieri will hope to feature against their former club.
The match is a 2pm kick-off and the referee is Andrew Madley.
