Hammers Set For Freiburg Reunion

The draw for the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 stage was made this morning and West Ham United have been drawn to face a two-legged tie against German outfit SC Freiburg.

The two sides met in the group stage with the Hammers winning Group A by virtue of the fact that they beat the Bundesliga side twice.

Having achieved their first ever victory in Germany back on October 5, David Moyes’ men will look to repeat the feat when they head back to Stadion am Wolfswinkel on March 7 with kick-off at 8pm. The second-leg will then take place in Stratford a week later at the unusually earlier time of 5:45pm.

The Irons are still awaiting a first win of 2024 and will hope to get it before they make a return to European action, as the German outfit will undoubtedly be looking for revenge after their two defeats in the group stage.

Should the East Londoners make it past SC Freiburg for a second time this season, then they will have booked an unprecedented third successive European quarter-final appearance.
