Two More Move On From Hammers

There is still no news on incoming transfers at West Ham United yet but following the departures of KrisztiƔn Hegyi, Gideon Kodua and Connor Coventry in recent weeks, it seems that the revamp of the Development Squad continues, with the news emerging this morning that another young pair have left Stratford.

Thierry Nevers has completed a permanent transfer to Moldovan Super Liga club FC Sheriff Tiraspol, while fellow youngster Archie Woods has had his contract terminated by mutual consent.

French international winger Nevers was one of the clubs first summer signings back in June 2020 and although there were high hopes for him amongst the management staff at the time, he only made a handful of appearances for the Development Squad whilst spending the entirety of the 2022/23 season on loan at both Newport County and Bradford City.

Having not featured at all this season, it was decided that he will be allowed to seek regular first-team opportunities elsewhere.

It was also widely felt that after featuring twenty two times in all competitions for the club last term, 22-year-old Woods wouldn’t be part of the future going forward. However, the midfielder is yet to find a new club, as he follows Nevers through the departure door, despite recently having a loan spell at Vanarama National League South club Dartford.

With injuries and suspensions currently taking their toll on West Ham’s squad, David Moyes is short on numbers. However one positive piece of news that has happened this week is that Kamarai Swyer has been recalled from his loan spell at Sky Bet League Two side Crawley Town.

With the January transfer window closes on 1 February, any further moves will be confirmed as soon as details are available.
