Bristol City Match Preview

After suffering a heavy defeat to Liverpool which ended their participation in this season’s Carabao Cup, West Ham United start their FA Cup campaign with a home tie against Sky Bet Championship outfit Bristol City, as they try to go beyond round five for the first time since the 2015/16 season.

The Hammers may not have done the double over Brighton five days ago but picking up a point in their first goalless draw since December 12, 2021 proved just as valuable against an ever-determined Brighton and Hove Albion side and they will be wanting to build on that and progress straight through to the fourth-round.

If the scores are level in Stratford, then a replay is currently scheduled to take place on Tuesday 16 January with kick-off at 7:45pm.

The Robins are under the stewardship of former West Ham Development Squad Head-Coach Liam Manning and make no mistake about it, he will be relishing his first return to Stratford and having a side raring to go.

Pablo Fornals, Ben Johnson and Angelo Ogbonna will be hoping to retain their places, while names such as Łukasz Fabiański, Maxwel Cornet, Danny Ings and Divin Mubama could come into the starting line-up.

One player that will now not feature is defender Thilo Kehrer, as he has completed a loan move to French outfit AS Monaco for the rest of the current campaign.

The match kicks off at 2pm and the referee is Graham Scott.
