West Ham Confirm Scamacca Exit

West Ham United may be the only Premier League club yet to make a signing this summer but they have seen two high-profile departures since the window opened in June.

Declan Rice finally left the club and secured a move to Arsenal back on 15 July and it was confirmed earlier that striker Gianluca Scamacca has also ended his time with the Hammers and joined Italian Serie A club Atalanta for £27.7m.

Manager David Moyes identified Scamacca as cover for Michail Antonio last summer but the Italy international’s playing time in Stratford was extremely limited, due to having to undergo knee surgery.

Scamacca did however feature as the Irons went on a pre-season tour to Australia and took on both Perth Glory and Tottenham Hotspur but a departure had always looked likely for him this summer, as both AS Roma and Inter Milan were also showing interest.

There are likely to be more players involved in moves both in and out of West Ham before the club’s 2023/24 top-flight campaign gets underway at AFC Bournemouth on Saturday. As soon as details are confirmed, they will as always be available here.
