Hammers Secure Ward-Prowse Transfer

A deal was finally agreed with Southampton last Wednesday and now, West Ham United boss David Moyes has finally got his man. The news has been confirmed that James Ward-Prowse has made the move from St Mary’s to East London for £30m and has signed a four-year contract after completing a medical.

Moyes has been particularly keen on the former Saints’ Captain for some time and after initially pulling out of negotiations just a few weeks ago, the midfielder becomes only the second signing that the club have managed to secure this summer.

After Southampton’s relegation was finally confirmed in April, the player was inevitably linked with a move away from the South Coast and the indications from his camp were that he didn’t want to play in the Sky Bet Championship and instead preferred a return to the Premier League and to have a crack at European football.

He made his last appearance for the Saints in their Championship opener at Sheffield Wednesday back on August 4 and could make his debut for the Hammers in Sunday’s first home game of the 2023/24 campaign against Chelsea.

With the window open until 11pm on September 1, there could be more deals for Irons’ fans to keep an eye on between now and then. All the details will be available here as soon as anything happens.
