Hammers Begin Carabao Cup Run With Imps Test

The draw for the third round of the Carabao Cup was made on Wednesday night and West Ham United will travel to The LNER Stadium to face Sky Bet League One outfit Lincoln City. The tie will take place on Wednesday 27 September with kick-off at 7:45pm.

The Hammers will be hoping to avoid another early exit from this competition as they were knocked out at the same stage last campaign, thanks to a 9-10 penalty shoot-out defeat by Sky Bet Championship side Blackburn Rovers after a 2-2 draw in Stratford.

It took a penalty shoot-out for the Imps to progress to this stage, where they eventually knocked out Premier League newcomers Sheffield United on Wednesday night after the encounter ended goalless.

As David Moyes’ men will be competing in European competition for a third successive season, it will be intriguing to see how seriously he views the Carabao Cup this time around. Having said that though, he does have a much stronger squad at his disposal.
