First Arrival Through The Door For Hammers

We may be in early August already but West Ham United have finally made their first signing of the summer as they have confirmed that a deal for Mexican midfielder Edson Álvarez has been completed.

Álvarez arrives in East London from Ajax for an undisclosed fee on a five-year deal.

Hammers’ boss David Moyes has been thought to have been tracking the player since the transfer window first opened in June and after already seeing Declan Rice leave the club, this capture enables the Scotsman to bolster his midfield.

The new recruit has been signed in time for him to be in contention for Saturday’s Premier League opener against AFC Bournemouth at The Vitality Stadium, meaning that the travelling fans may get an early glimpse of him if Moyes decides to include him in the matchday squad.

After a very quiet couple of months, the transfer business is really hotting up in East London now and there is likely to be more movement both in and out of the club until the window closes at 11pm on September 1. Of course, the news will appear here when it happens.
