AFC Bournemouth Match Preview

In the first three games of last season, West Ham United not only failed to win, but they didn’t score a single goal. Here’s hoping for an improvement on that start here when their 2023/24 fixture programme gets underway at The Vitality Stadium.

One of only three away wins for the Hammers last season came here back on 23 April and they will be hoping to repeat the feat and get their season up and running.

The Cherries have a new Head-Coach for the new campaign, as Andoni Iraola replaced Gary O’Neill who was surprisingly sacked in June.

AFC Bournemouth were also one of only two sides that the Irons achieved the double over last season and they would surely love to inflict a first defeat on the new man in the home dugout.

The Irons hadn’t signed a single player at the start of the week but Mexican midfielder Edson Álvarez arrived on Thursday. However, David Moyes stated in his pre-match news conference on Friday that he is not yet ready to be involved. Maxwel Cornet and Pablo Fornals could be in line for starts.

Neither Aaron Cresswell, nor Michail Antonio saw much pre-season action this time around so it will be interesting to see whether they are handed starts here.

After the departure of Declan Rice to Arsenal during the summer, a decision is yet to be made on a new Club Captain.

The match is a 3pm kick-off and the referee is Peter Bankes.
