West Ham Sign Palmieri

West Ham United have confirmed their eighth signing of what has already been a busy summer transfer window, as they have finally concluded a deal to bring in defender Emmerson Palmieri from Chelsea for a fee of £13m plus add-ons. He has signed a four-year contract with the option for a further twelve months.

Hammers’ boss David Moyes has been on the lookout for cover in his defence following the injury to Nayef Aguerd and after capturing reinforcements last week in the shape of Thilo Kehrer, the Scotsman decided he would need another player in that position to provide extra cover, especially with Angelo Ogbonna working his way back to fitness after a long layoff and Craig Dawson currently out of action.

Palmieri is the second Italian international to come to Stratford this summer after the arrival of striker Gianluca Scamacca and an added bonus is that he will be able to play alongside Ogbonna at some point this season.

There is the possibility of more transfers both in and out of Stratford before the window closes on 31 August. As always, if there are any more moves, this site will have all the latest.
