Diop Completes Fulham Switch
Marco Silva’s Fulham seem to want to have a real go at the Premier League this season and they have again strengthened their squad today with the arrival of West Ham United defender Issa Diop on a five-year contact, for an undisclosed fee believed to be in the region of £15m.
The West London club have tracked the Frenchman from very early on in the summer transfer window and he was finally given the green light to undergo a medical with the Cottagers earlier this week.
However, the transfer was in some doubt last month after the injury to new Hammers’ recruit Nayef Aguerd sustained in the 3-1 pre-season defeat to Glasgow Rangers at Ibrox and manager David Moyes was keen to wait and see if he could get cover before allowing Diop’s deal to Craven Cottage to be finalised.
The Scotsman is yet to find a replacement but with Diop believed to have grown frustrated at not being able to put the move through, West Ham decided to accept Fulham’s latest offer.
Diop is available for selection when Silva’s men travel to Molineux to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
With more movement expected on the transfer front both in and out of Stratford before the window shuts on 1 September, this site will keep its readers up to date.
