Southampton Match Preview

West Ham United are still unbeaten this season but they fell just short of winning their first three league games for only the third time in the club’s history last time out when they were held to a 2-2 home draw by Crystal Palace after twice letting their advantage slip. Following the international break, the Hammers will be looking to start September by keeping their 100% away record intact, as a trip to Southampton is next up on their fixture list.

The Irons haven’t lost on the road since the 3-2 defeat to Newcastle United back on April 18 and have a good record at St Mary’s. They will in fact be looking to win their eleventh consecutive game away from Stratford whilst at the same time, continuing the winless start to the current campaign for Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side.

West Ham ended 2020 here and despite having chances to take all three points, the encounter ended goalless.

Since their last outing a fortnight ago, the East Londoners have added three new faces to their squad and all are in contention here with Kurt Zouma, Nikola Vlašić and Alex Král hoping to make their debuts. Manuel Lanzini could also be involved.

Saturday’s match is a 3pm kick-off and the referee is David Coote.
