Hammers Secure Areola Loan

After confirming the signing of former Rochdale, West Bromwich Albion and Watford defender Craig Dawson earlier this month, West Ham United have confirmed that a second senior player has joined the club today.

French goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, who was on loan at Fulham last campaign, has moved back to London to spend next season with the Hammers before possibly making the move permanent.

The deal for the stopper first came to light sixteen days ago but after extensive talks with Paris Saint-Germain, the 28-year-old has finally completed his medical.

It has been widely speculated that Areola will start the season as first-choice for boss David Moyes ahead of Łukasz Fabiański.

Ahead of a busy season in Stratford, Moyes has already allowed Development Squad goalkeepers Joseph Anang and Nathan Trott to leave the club on loan deals.

With more and more moves completed each day, the Irons are believed to be pursuing further options in order to bolster the squad for the upcoming season. As soon as deals are confirmed, this site will keep its readers up to date.
