Afolayan Wonders off to Bolton

After West Ham United confirmed on Tuesday that Reading youngster Thierry Nevers will be joining when the summer transfer window opens on June 9, The Hammers have today confirmed that they have allowed one of their existing Development Squad members to head out of Stratford.

23-year-old Oladapo Afolayan has joined Sky Bet League One outfit Bolton Wanderers on a permanent basis.

Afolayan signed a loan deal with Ian Evatt’s men back in January when they were playing in Sky Bet League Two and they then went on an incredible run which saw them finish third and secure automatic promotion.

The frontman made his one and only senior appearance for the first-team while with the Irons shortly before making the move to Lancashire, as he scored the final goal in West Ham’s fourth round FA Cup rout at home to Doncaster Rovers back on January 23.

Prior to that, he also played thirty six times for Dimitri Halajko’s side, scoring nine goals during three years in East London, following his move from non-league side Solihull Moors in 2018.

The forward also gained valuable Football League experience on loan at both Mansfield Town and Oldham Athletic.
