Liverpool Match Preview

David Moyes has still not won a match at Anfield during his managerial career but his West Ham United side are currently in good form. He will be hoping that they will extend their unbeaten run by achieving a positive result when they come up against last season’s Champions Liverpool in Saturday’s late kick-off.

The Hammers have picked up results in what has been a tough run of fixtures recently and they come into this game off the back of a 1-1 home draw with Manchester City last Saturday and momentarily occupy twelfth position in the Premier League table. Having said that, they could slip further, depending on the results of the earlier matches.

Jürgen Klopp’s men suffered a humiliating 7-2 defeat at Aston Villa before the international break and I’m sure the visitors would love a result like that.

This will be a third game inside a week for the Reds and they come into it off the back of a UEFA Champions League match at home to Danish side FC Midtjylland on Tuesday. They then face another three-day turnaround before their next group stage match away at Atalanta on Wednesday.

The East Londoners will be hoping that the home side’s focus stays on European matters as they look for a first win at Anfield since September 2015.

The encounter here in February saw Liverpool snatch a late victory having come from 2-1 down to win 3-2 and maintain their grip on top spot.

Craig Dawson and Saïd Benrahma could be ready to make their debuts, while Michail Antonio will miss the encounter after being substituted against the Citizens after picking up a hamstring injury, meaning either Andriy Yarmolenko or Sébastien Haller may be handed a start, while Manuel Lanzini and Robert Snodgrass are options to come into midfield.

The match is a 5:30pm kick-off with live coverage being screened by Sky Sports from 5pm. The referee is Kevin Friend.
