Hammers Acquire Dawson on loan

With the transfer window finally closing at 5pm on Friday, West Ham United have added to their squad tonight by completing the signing of Craig Dawson from Watford. The deal will be an initial season-long loan with the option of a permanent transfer at the end of the season.

David Moyes has been targeting defensive options throughout this window and having seemingly missed out on Burnley’s James Tarkowski, the Scotsman quickly turned his attention to Dawson and the former Rochdale and West Bromwich Albion man becomes his sixth signing since succeeding Manuel Pellegrini last December.

It will actually be the second defensive capture in the space of ten days for the Hammers, after sealing a deal for Vladimír Coufal.

Moyes is set to be back in the dugout for Sunday’s London derby against José Mourinho’s team at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday afternoon and he will have to decide whether to include Dawson in the matchday squad.

There could be at least one more face arriving in Stratford before Friday’s deadline. If and when that deal happens, this site will have all the details.
