Hammers Learn Carabao Cup Fate

The draws for both the second and third rounds of the Carabao Cup were made earlier this afternoon and it’s a London derby first up for West Ham United, as they welcome Sky Bet League One side Charlton Athletic to Stratford in the Southern section.

The clash will take place during the week of 14 September and will see the two teams meet competitively for the first time since the 2006/7 season when they shared a win apiece with both sides winning their home fixture.

The occasion also sees Addicks’ manager Lee Bowyer face the club he not only supports but also played for over two spells during his career.

Unlike round two, the third stage isn’t split into regional sections. This meant that the Irons were handed another home tie against the winners of the encounter involving Premier League newcomers Leeds United and Sky Bet League One outfit Hull City a week later. If the Tigers were to cause a major upset, then it will mean a reunion with his former club for West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen.
